What is Apistan?

Introduced in the late 1980s, it uses tau-fluvalinate as the active ingredient, a powerful acaricide from the cyano-pyrethroid class. This active ingredient is impregnated on thongs plastic that releases the tau-fluvalinate consistently and sustainably, ensuring continued protection for your hives.

It covers two generations ofbees and varroa mites, providing effective protection for an entire year. Acting by contact, the bees are loaded with active principle when they come into contact with the thongs byApistan. Thanks to their social interactions, the active ingredient is distributed throughout the hive, thus protecting the entire colonie. During the 6 to 8 weeks of treatment, it eliminates varroa mites which emerge from the cells of the brood, thus preventing the reinfestation at colonie.

When and how to use it?

Apistan can be used at any time of the year, but the best results are obtained in treatments carried out in spring before the first honeydew or in autumn after the honey harvest.

HOW TO USE

Insert 2 thongs body at hive between frames 3 and 4 and 7 and 8 for a hive standard (10 to 12 frames).
For the small colonies or the nuclei, a single strip placed in the center of the swarm is enough.

When used according to manufacturer's recommendations, Apistan leaves no detectable residue in the miel. In addition, no adverse effects were observed in bees to date, ensuring safe and reliable treatment for your hives.
