Bayvarol – Treatment against Varroa destructor – Box of 5 sachets of 4 ribbons for hive – VETO PHARMA

Bayvarol is a treatment for the parasite varroa destroyer executioner of bees.

Before treatment 

• Do not use in the presence of supers.
• Wear protective gloves (nitrile type), to be worn when handling the thongs.
• Note the batch number in his breeding register and the date of application of the treatment. Make sure that the colonies to be treated have good sensitivity to flumethrin. Do not use Bayvarol if recently treated with flumethrin or tau-fluvalinate (including previous year).
• This is why the flumethrin, just like the tau-fluvalinate, are indicated as so-called “ rotation » against varroa. They are to be used occasionally, alternating with other molecules.

Know the right dosage

Each box of Bayvarol contains 5 sachets of 4 strips, i.e. 20 strips per box. The correct dosage is 4 strips per hive of standard size (1 body with more than 5 frames), to be placed in the heart of the brood. The 4 strips favor a greater number of contact points with the bees (and therefore varroa mites) with the active ingredient.

Both sides of the thongs must be easily accessible for the bees (do not stick a strip against a frame):

• For large hives (2 hive bodies, Langstroth type), 4 strips are to be placed per hive body. THE Bayvarol strips can be attached
  between them by the base, in order to create a longer strap, allowing the treatment of the two bodies of hive at the same time.
• For hives, nucs and weaker colonies (< 5 frames) two strips are sufficient.

The hooking system of the Bayvarol strips and their rigidity allow easy insertion into the hive.

Key tips for successful treatment

• Do not underdose! The correct dosage is 4 strips per classic size hive (see the section "Know the correct dosage" for the dosage adapted to hives of
  smaller or larger size).
• Position the straps well. They must be located at the heart of the cluster of bees, closest to the brood. Do not place them in the corners of the hive. Suspend the strips in such a way that the bees can access both sides, in order to have a maximum contact surface with the active ingredient.
• Respect the duration of use: 4 to 6 weeks. It is important to remove the straps Bayvarol after 6 weeks, in order to preserve the sensitivity of varroa mites to flumethrin.
